A world premiere ensemble, ASQ has paid homage to the classics (recording the complete string quartets of Beethoven, among others) and performed more than 25 commissioned works by contemporary composers.
Based in San Francisco, ASQ has performed internationally for over 30 years in the major musical capitals of five continents and at major halls in North America and Europe. The Alexander String Quartet was established in New York City in 1981 and a year later became the first string quartet to win the Concert Artists Guild Competition, then captured international attention as the first American quartet to win the London International String Quartet Competition in 1985.
This concert is supported with a grant from San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.
PROGRAM: Mozart Quartet in D Major, KV 499 "Hoffmeister"; Kodaly Quartet No. 2, Op. 10; Beethoven, op. 59 #1 "Razumovsky" |
